I loved the previous version of the tech vest. Got this newer version and it is not as good. On the positive side, I like the taller collar. I basically never use my vest anymore because it is so difficult to zip. It is very hard to get the zip actually started at the bottom. After having to stop on the side of the road and struggle for awhile, then you can continue your ride. Getting past that, the zip catches the fabric and gets stuck…usually half way either up or down. This requires another stop and struggle on the side of the road. I just got a Pearl Izumi vest. It is not matching to my kit but functionally better.

      Hello Paul –

We’re sorry to hear about the issue you’re having with your zipper! When you order the vest, you can choose between a concealed or exposed zipper. We find it seems like there’s a “sticky zipper” issue with the concealed zipper. Try making sure the zipper is completely straight before zipping it up to avoid it getting caught in the flaps.

However, we recently had a change in zippers. If your zipper is broken, we do offer a Lifetime Quality Guarantee to cover manufacturing defects. Please email to get the warranty process started for your vest.

The Tech Wind Vest is available with a concealed zipper to enable printing of a design across the zipper with no interruption. It is also available with an exposed zipper, where there are no flaps that cover the zipper when it is engaged. We would agree that the exposed zipper is easier to use than the concealed zipper on this product.
