If you’ve followed Katie Compton over the years or had the opportunity to work or race alongside her, you’re aware of her genuine kindness, sharp wit, and enthusiastic love for cycling.
However, you’d be mistaken to take her good spirit as a lack of competitive drive or her ability to be an utter force of nature when pursuing a goal.
Over her career, Katie Compton has amassed twenty-four World Cup wins, five medals at Cyclocross World Championships, has seen the top step with 133 UCI-level wins, and fifteen consecutive National Championship titles.
“It’s important to me that I’m partnering with a US-based company. Champion System USA is just next door from Colorado in Nebraska. Their kit whole staff are just really good and caring people to work with and that’s very important to me,” said Katie Compton.
As a part of the sponsorship, Katie Compton fans can now purchase the long-awaited KFC replica kit featuring America’s Mountain, Pikes Peak, for America’s cyclocross legend.
Usually, during the summer, Katie spends time road racing to get speed into her legs. But, between COVID-19 and wanting to avoid another road racing injury, she took the 2020 season off. Katie was planning on racing some Enduro events and some MTB endurance events. Plus she also loves to head to the track with her team car, a 2016 Porsche Cayman GT4.
Right now, as with all professional athletes, the plan for racing is up in the air.
“If cyclocross season doesn’t have much racing, then I plan on doing some domestic racing, and then if that doesn’t work, we have a C, D, and through Z plan. It’s just what you have to do right now, do the right thing for you and your community and stay safe, healthy and considerate of our community” said Katie.
